(i)

The early life and call of Jesus Christ

1. Jesus was the founder of Christianity
2. His mother, Virgin Mary became pregnant through a supernatural act of the Holy Spirit
3. He learned the trade of carpentry (or building) from his stepfather, Joseph
4. At the age of 12, he was found in the Temple, sitting among religious teachers who were astonished by his wisdom
5. He travelled to the Jordan River to be baptized by his cousin, John at the age of 30
6. Immediately after his baptism, he was led into the desert to fast for 40 days
7. During his fasting, he resisted three direct temptations from the devil, reaffirmation his commitment to God's will over wordly power or comfort
8. In the first temptation, the devil asked him to command stones to become bread but Jesus refused, replying: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God"
9. In the second temptation, the devil took him to the highest point of the temple in Jerusalem and challenged him to throw himself down so the angels would catch him but Jesus replied: "Do not put the Lord your God to the test"
10. In the third temptation, the devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world and offered them to him in exchange for worship but Jesus commanded the devil to leave, saying: "Worship the Lord your God and serve him only"
11. After his wilderness ordeal, he began recruiting his first disciples (Peter and Andrew) and returned to Nazareth
12. He recruited a total of 12 disciples
13. He gave sermon on the Mount
14. He restored sight to the blind
15. He cleansed lepers
16. He healed paralytics
17. He calmed a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee
18. He walked on water
19. He multiplied five loaves and two fish to feed 5,000 people
20. He resurrected the dead

(ii)

The early life and call of Muhammad (S.A.W)

1. Prophet Mohammed was the founder of Islam and was born on the 20^th April, A.D. 571 to Abdullah and Amina in Mecca
2. Mohammed which means "the praised one", was given to him by his grandfather, Abdul Mutalib because his father died before he was born
3. Mohammed was taken and trained by a woman called Halimah
4. Halimah returned Mohammed to his mother at the age of five
5. One year later, the mother died and this made his grandfather to take care of him
7. His grandfather also died when Mohammed was eight years old
8. Mohammed's uncle, Abu Talib took him after the death of his grandfather
9. Abu Talib took Mohammed along on one of his business trips to Syria and he was advised by a month to return Mohammed to Arabia because he would be a great person but if they continued to stay in Syria, the people would harm him
10. Abu Talib took Mohammed back to Arabia
11. He was known to be handsome, quiet, reserved, dignified, honest, intelligent and truthful
12. Mohammed entered into business transaction with Khadijah, a rich widow who was a merchant and they got married when he was twenty-five years old

The early life and call of Okomfo Anokye

1. Okomfo Anokye was born on a Saturday in the 1660's at Akwapim Awukugua in the Eastern Region of Ghana
2. His parents were called Opanyin Ano and Maame Kobi, respectively
3. He was named after a famous Guan chief called Kwame Bempong and was later nick-named Kwame Anokye
4. He was born with some bundles of cowry shells around his wrists and ankles and held a whisk in his palm (hand)
5. He possessed so many magical powers e.g. he could disappear from the home and return after several days or weeks, he could plant palm trees which bore fruits within seven days, etc.
6. He became the chief priest of the Ashanti Empire during the reign of Nana Osei Tutu I
7. He became chief advisor to the Ashanti king
8. He assisted the Ashanti kings to win many of their battles including the defeat of the Denkyiras and the Akwamus
9. He was made the chief of Ashanti Agona (a suburb of Kumasi) by Nana Osei Tutu I
10. He planted three cuttings of the kum tree at Kwaman, Kumawu and Juabin, but only that Kwaman sprouted
11. Upon his advice, the capital town of the Ashanti Empire was located at Kwaman which was renamed "Kumase" which means "under the kum tree"
12. Kumasi became the capital of the Ashanti Empire upon his advice
13. He united the Ashanti people under the Golden stool
14. He directed the Ashanti king to administer the state
15. Upon his advice, captives were neither enslaved nor executed, but were instead resettled among the provinces
16. He was a great medicine man and herbalist - he provided many traditional medical services and cured many diseases brought before him
17. He built many shrines where he performed his religious duties
18. A hospital (Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital) has been named after him
19. He helped in the expansion and strengthening of the Ashanti Empire
20. He died in about 1740, when he was over 80 years old

(iv)

The early life and call of Agya Ahor

1. He lived in the 12^th Century B.C
2. He belonged to the Anona royal family of the Gomoa traditional area in the Fanteland
3. He was among the eminent Fante leaders who led the Fantes in their migration from Techiman to their present settlement
4. He was the chief priest of the Fante state god called Akyen
5. He offered meaningful advice which guided the activities of his people. For instance, he advised his people as to when they were to make their farms or celebrate the Akyenmu festival
6. He ensured that there was always peace and unity among the Fantes
7. He planted a tree which symbolised peace in Fanteland
8. Then again, he devoted much of his time to the service of the Fante state
9. He assisted the poor and the needy with his wealth e.g. farm produce
10. He was a great hunter and a farmer
11. He performed his religious duties diligently
12. He was highly respected by his people
13. He placed his intelligence and talents at the disposal of his people
14. There was an outbreak of an epidemic which killed many people
15. At a meeting at Mankessim, the chiefs and elders were asked to look for a cure for the epidemic. They realised that a human sacrifice had to be made to the gods to stop the epidemic
16. When nobody was willing to offer himself, Egya Ahor agreed that he should be sacrificed to ward off the epidemic
17. He ordained his son Edufor as his successor
18. Egya (Osofo) Ahor was sent to a shrine and sacrificed at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3 at Mankessim
19. The strange disease stopped soon after he had been sacrificed
20. The Fantes instituted the Ahobaa Festival (Ahobaa Ketseaba - "Small Ahobaa") to remember the great sacrifice and death of Egya Ahor. It is celebrated every year in May or early June. Thus his burial was known as Ahobaa Ketseaba while his funeral rites were known as Ahobaa Kese - Big Ahobaa

1. He was known as the red hunter because of his complexion
2. He was very important leader among the people of Northern Ghana/He led his people in their migration
3. He was a great hunter
4. On one of his expeditions, he ran out of water
5. He sought help from an old woman in a nearby village
6. She could not help because of a strange beast terrorized them at the pond
7. Toha Zie visited the pond, fought and killed the strange beast
8. A great feast was held in his honour for killing the strange beast

The early life and call of Togbe Tsali

1. He was a powerful traditional priest of the Anlo traditional area
2. He was a member of the Tsiame royal clan
3. His ancestral background could be traced to Notsie in between Togo and Benin
4. He was a hunter and a farmer by profession
5. He had no children
6. He possessed many magical powers
7. He used his many powers to cause King Agorkoli and his elders to fall into a deep sleep overnight
8. He helped the Anlos to escape from King Agorkoli of Notsie; thus bringing freedom to his people
9. He turned his people into several mice
10. He turned the footprints of his people backwards so as to prevent their enemies from attacking them
11. His people always looked up to him for assistance and direction
12. He physically provided food and meat for the needy
13. He united his people as one group
14. He could cause rain to fall on only his farm
15. He sacrificed his comforts for the sake of his people
16. He built many shrines where his people consulted him for assistance
17. Before his death, he removed his upper and lower jaws and instructed his people to use them as foundation stones to build two separate fetish houses (shrines) to his memory
18. He was chopped into pieces and thrown into a river, but was later found loitering around the river
19. A festival, Hogbetsotso, is celebrated in his honour
20. He is now considered a god who is invoked and worshipped

(i)

Moral lessons from Jesus Christ

1. Love: He asked his followers to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them.

2. The Golden Rule: He asked his followers to do to others whatever they would like them to do to them

3. Forgiveness: He taught his followers to forgive others "seventy-seven times" which means without limit

4. Humility and Servanthood: He taught that whoever wants to become great must serve others and demonstrated this by washing his disciples' feet

5. Integrity and Sincerity: He condemned hypocrisy and taught that a person's "yes" should mean "yes" and "no" should mean "no"

6. Compassion for the poor: His ministry prioritized the poor, the sick and social outcasts, teaching that serving "the least of these" is equivalent to serving him

7. No-violence: His teaching on "turning the other cheek" indicates that one must not retaliate when wronged

8. Social Welfare: He taught his followers to care for the vulnerable

9. Obedience to God: He taught his followers that obeying God's will should be our highest priority

10. Resilience under Temptation: His experience in the wilderness teaches us the importance of self-discipline and overcoming challenges and distractions

(ii)

Moral lessons from Muhammad (S.A.W)

1. Patience: Muslims must be tolerant with annoying behaviors from other people without getting angry
2. Courageous: A Muslim who is God fearing must have the ability to endure hardships and pain in life
3. Humility: A Muslim must be humble and not proud, arrogant and boastful
4. Steadfastness: Muslims must always rely on Allah and have belief and trust that Allah will always come to their aid in time of difficulty
5. Cleanliness: Muslims must keep themselves clean always especially when they pray by performing ablution
6. Forbidding evil and enjoying good life: Muslims are to avoid sinful and bad deeds. E.g. stealing, lying, quarrelling, fighting, etc.
7. Justice: Acting righteously and bearing witness in fairness and equity
8. Merciful: This is kind and considerate treatment shown to others
9. Avoidance of adultery and fornication: Prophet Muhammed said, "Be warned against adultery for it entails four evils. It takes away dignity, straits one's means of livelihood, provokes the Gracious one and entail dwelling in hell
10. Control of anger: That we should suppress anger and be in position to behave well and be friendly
11. Benevolent towards parents: That we should be charitable to our parents and our children will be charitable to us
12. Withdrawal from bribery and corruption: He said anyone who gives bribe and who receives are both headed for fire. Allah has condemned the giver, receiver and the facilitator
13. Truthfulness: He said Muslims must avoid telling lies for Allah to be pleased with them
14. Sincerity and fear for Allah: Muslims should always have the fear of Allah in their minds and hearts as he is able to see everyone's heart/loyalty
15. Love: He said as true believers we must love one another as ourselves
16. Faith: Muslims are to have faith in Allah and his angles and messengers
17. Kindness: He said Muslims must be kind to people and the needy
18. Trustworthiness: That all Muslims must be responsible and reliable in their dealing with others so that they can be trusted
