Solve for s

Get rid of the fraction by multiplying both sides by the denominator, 100

100 x $\frac{15}{100}$ x s = 60 x 100

15 x s = 60 x 100

Divide both sides by 15

s = $\frac{\mathrm{60\; x\; 100}}{15}$ = 4 x 100 = 400

Notes:

1. 15 divides itself 1 time and 60, 4 times
2. 4 x 100 = 400

∴ sales = GH₵ 400

Using proportionality

100% represents the sales

Commission% = 15%

Commission received = 60

If 15% = 60
