Asana was engaged to collect cashew-fruits on a farm and was paid a wage of GH₵ 25.00 a day. If the daily wage increased by 10% and she worked for 30 days, how much will she be paid?
Show Solution
Amount paid = Daily wage x Number of days
Daily wage before increase = GH₵ 25.00
Method I
Finding the 10% increased and adding it to the original wage
10% of GH₵ 25.00 = x GH₵ 25.00 = GH₵ 2.50
Daily wage after increase = GH₵ 25.00 + GH₵ 2.50 = GH₵ 27.50
Amount paid = GH₵ 27.50 x 30 = GH₵ 825.00
Method II
Using 110% as new daily wage percentage
100% represents the original wage.
Daily new wage % = 100% + 10% = 110%
Daily new wage = 110% of GH₵ 25.00
Daily new wage = x GH₵ 25.00 = GH₵ 27.50
Amount paid = GH₵ 27.50 x 30 = GH₵ 825.00
