4. Labour is effectively used throughout the year
5. Animals may provide power on the farm
6. Reduces risk of losing everything when diseases strikes or bad weather
7. Brings reliable sources of income
8. Reduces dependency on external inputs and costs
9. It enhances the productivity of the farmland

Advantages of land rotation

1. It helps check the spread of diseases
2. Land regains lost nutrients after the fallow period
3. Checks spread of pests

Disadvantages of land rotation

1. Does not encourage large scale farming
2. Virgin forest is destroyed
3. Needs a lot of time and work/ not easy to practice
4. Land is not fully utilized
5. Not suitable for areas where land is scarce
6. Encourages soil erosion
